At Spring44, every bottle begins with pure Colorado artesian spring water sourced from 9,000 feet in elevation in Buckhorn Canyon. Surrounded by more than 160,000 acres of protected National Forest, our Rocky Mountain spring is remote, untouched by municipal systems, and naturally protected from pollutants.

Our spring water is safe and delicious to drink directly from the ground. We do nothing to chemically alter it and we do not adjust the pH or add chlorine, fluoride, or other additives. We do, however, filter out large particulates for clarity, just to make sure no stray pine needles try to sneak into your cocktail! We respect the natural mineral balance exactly as it exists.

Why Water Quality Matters in Craft Spirits

An 80 proof bottle of spirits is 60 percent water. That means water plays a major role in taste, texture, and finish.

Proper pH, minerality, and total dissolved solids (TDS) define the character of water. Waters with low TDS are often described as clean, airy, and slightly sweet. Our high-elevation Colorado spring water offers a balanced mineral profile, including calcium and magnesium, and a slight natural acidity that complements the warmth of distilled spirits.

The result is a smooth, clean finish that reflects the purity of its source.

If you ever notice small white flakes in your bottle, you’re simply seeing science at work!

Because our natural spring water is rich in minerals and we do not alter or strip it, temperature changes can cause calcium to separate and form visible particles. They are completely natural and harmless. A gentle shake redistributes them.
